Join HotHouse and headliner Chicago Samba as we celebrate Brazilian Independence Day. There will be lots of live music, dance lessons, a capoeira performance, dancers in Carnaval costumes, poetry in Portuguese, and more! The best in the Midwest, and the next best thing to being in Brazil!
Festival Program:
- Breno and Neusa Sauer, featuring Rob Block on guitar
- Brazilian poetry, interpreted in Portuguese
- Gingarte Capoeira - "Roda de Capoeira" - unique combination of dance and martial arts
- Rio Dio - guest Brazilian band playing samba-rock. Everyone will want to get up and dance!
- Dance lessons by Edilson Lima, Chicago favorite.
- Brazilian National Anthem, interpreted by Tomoko Akiho
- Chicago Samba - 2 sets!
- First set, with dancers in full Carnaval costumes
- Closing set of dance music, featuring sambas, axes, pagodes, forros, and more!
Festival Details:
- Location: 2nd floor loft room at Fizz, 3220 N. Lincoln Ave, just north of Belmont/Ashland intersection.
- Times: August 31st. Doors open at 8pm, Festival starts at 9pm.
- Tickets: $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Purchase tickets here
- Free parking in city lot in 1600 block of Melrose, just behind venue.
- Full bar and menu available late.
